What can I expect?

You will be accompanied throughout by an experienced member of our railway team, who will introduce you to the locomotive, explain the controls and guide you throughout your journey.

Then it's time to take the controls and drive!

Our team will be on hand throughout to ensure your experience is enjoyable, memorable and, above all, safe.

Well behaved dogs are welcome to join your experience, however, if you are partaking in any of our catering packages, please ensure this is ok with all in your party.

Terms and Conditions

Safety

A locomotive footplate is a potentially hazardous working environment involving exposure to dirt, heat, bright light, noise and vibration.  Participants are exposed to the weather, so please dress appropriately. Weather protective clothing is not provided.

Clothing

Participants must wear suitable protective clothing such as overalls or old clothes. Sturdy footwear must be worn. 

Participant Suitability and Fitness

Participants must be reasonably fit, agile and over 18 years of age.

They must be capable of climbing in and out of a locomotive cab and able to stand unaided. Mobility aids of any description are not permitted on the footplate. 

Participants must not have any underlying medical conditions that may result in fainting or blackout, such as heart disease, asthma, COPD or epilepsy (this list is not exhaustive) as this presents a danger both to the Participant and the safety of the train.

Participants will also be required to sign a declaration and indemnity form before taking part in the Course.

Participants may be refused should the above conditions not be met.

Payment and Confirmation

Bookings are to be made via the link on the website

Confirmation will be emailed once payment has been received.

Unless the Course is cancelled by the Railway, refunds will not be given.  In exceptional circumstances please get in touch.

On the Day

Participants must arrive at Peasholm Station no later than the time stated on the booking confirmation.

Toilets are only available at Peasholm Station.
