Driver Experience

Our Driver Experience courses are a great way to spend time with your loved ones, whether you are celebrating a special occasion, big birthday, or even if it is just an excuse for a get–together.

Take one round trip at the controls, with photo opportunities aplenty, and ask our experienced drivers questions as they guide you down the track.

To round your experience off, receive a commemorative certificate and gift package to remember the special occasion.

Terms and Conditions

Safety

A locomotive footplate is a potentially hazardous working environment involving exposure to dirt, heat, bright light, noise and vibration.  Participants are exposed to the weather, so please dress appropriately. Weather protective clothing is not provided.

Clothing

Participants must wear suitable protective clothing such as overalls or old clothes. Nylon or similarly flammable clothing must not be worn. Footwear must be robust with a rubber or composition soles. 

Participant Suitability and Fitness

Participants must be reasonably fit, agile and over 18 years of age.

They must be capable of climbing in and out of a locomotive cab and able to stand unaided. Mobility aids of any description are not permitted. 

Participants must not have any underlying medical conditions that may result in fainting or blackout, such as heart disease, asthma, COPD or epilepsy (this list is not exhaustive) as this presents a danger both to the Participant and the safety of the train.

Participants will also be required to sign a declaration and indemnity form before taking part in the Course.

Participants may be refused should the Railway should the above conditions not be met.

Payment and Confirmation

Payment for Courses is due in full at the time of booking via a voucher on our website.

For bookings made on the website, an online confirmation will be emailed once payment has been received.

Unless the Course is cancelled by the Railway, refunds will not be given.  In exceptional circumstances please get in touch.

On the Day

Participants must arrive at Peasholm Station 20 minutes before departure to check in.

Toilets are only available at Peasholm Station.
